PUBLISHING STRATEGY 出版策略

My China publishing knowledge covers all aspects of the publishing landscape, notably the structure of publishing entities, and regulations for operation. I have a range of useful contacts in China publishing, and can take on research (including use of Chinese resources), report-writing or other specific strategic tasks.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT 项目管理

Translation of vision to deliverables is a prominent feature of my work. I can achieve this on the large scale, as in roles at Oxford University Press and Berg Publishers (Bloomsbury) delivering on critical major projects. I also handle smaller print or digital projects, and crucially have done project management with Chinese teams.

EDITORIAL 英文编辑

My English-language editorial experience ranges from copy-editing to acquisition and management. I have edited books for Macmillan, Thames & Hudson, Bloomsbury and Oxford University Press. Most recently I have been editing for LexisNexis, Penguin and the Writers’ & Artists’ series. I bring editorial rigour to China-related publications.

PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT 产品开发

I have created print books and digital products, in both the UK and China. For example, on Berg Fashion Library, an online platform comprising encyclopedia, ebooks, images, taxonomy and other content, I worked with stakeholders to shape of the digital resource, and then with the platform developer on implementation.

CHINESE TRANSLATION 中英笔译

My published translation to English from Chinese ranges from non-fiction books produced by Unicorn Publishers to a literary piece for Asymptote. I also use Chinese-language skills for research, and verbal/written communication with Chinese publishing partners. My focus is always on accuracy, fluency and accessibility.

TECHNOLOGY 技术

My strong analytic abilities enable me to grasp technical structures readily. I have a good knowledge of XML technologies. At OUP, I became interested in linked data, and trained in applications and syntax for RDF. I managed teams working on platforms for China Science Press, and at LexisNexis have become increasingly interested in AI for publishing.
